From Raipur, fly IndiGo’s daily non-stop to Indore (IDR). It lands at 12:00 after about 1h 25m–1h 30m, and Ujjain is about 60 km, or 1–1.5 hours, by road from there. The return flight leaves Indore at 17:10 and takes about 1h 10m. Ujjain has no scheduled flights of its own, so Indore is the gateway for Chhattisgarh pilgrims.
Landing at Indore airport? Book your airport pickup to Ujjain / Omkareshwar and your stay
A midday arrival and a late-afternoon return give the Raipur route a rhythm unlike any other into Indore. You arrive with most of the afternoon ahead of you, and on the way home you must leave Ujjain soon after lunch. With one flight a day in each direction, seats and timings both need planning. The schedule below is from late September 2026.
Raipur–Indore flight at a glance
| Detail | Raipur (RPR) → Indore (IDR) | Indore (IDR) → Raipur (RPR) |
|---|---|---|
| Airline | IndiGo | IndiGo |
| Frequency | 1 a day | 1 a day |
| Flight | 6E6219, arrives IDR 12:00 | 6E813, departs IDR 17:10 |
| Flying time | About 1h 25m – 1h 30m | About 1h 10m |
Both flight numbers continue through Indore: 6E6219 goes on to Goa after it arrives from Raipur, and 6E813 comes in from Goa before it leaves for Raipur. A delay on the Goa leg can therefore ripple into your 17:10 departure. Check its status before you leave Ujjain. Current timings are on IndiGo’s Raipur to Indore route page.
Arriving at noon: making the most of Day 1
Land at 12:00, collect bags and you can be on the road by about 12:30. The drive via the Indore–Ujjain road through Sanwer is about 60–62 km, so you reach Ujjain between roughly 13:30 and 14:00. Have lunch, check in and rest through the hottest part of the day, then go for general darshan in the late afternoon and see Mahakal Lok and Ram Ghat in the evening.
Uber operates at IDR at all hours. With a midday arrival you will rarely struggle for a cab, but a pre-booked car still saves waiting and bargaining. Book one on our Indore airport to Ujjain taxi page. For the route, see Indore airport to Ujjain distance.
Bhasma Aarti on a Raipur trip
A noon landing is far too late for Bhasma Aarti the same day, since it takes place before dawn. The Raipur route does line up neatly with the next morning, though. You have had an easy afternoon and a full night in Ujjain, so booking the aarti for the morning after arrival is realistic even for older travellers. Book it before you buy the flight, especially for Mondays, Shravan and festival dates.
Plans that fit the 12:00 in / 17:10 out timings
| One night | Two nights | |
|---|---|---|
| Day 1 | Land 12:00, reach Ujjain by about 14:00, evening darshan | Land 12:00, reach Ujjain, rest, evening darshan and Ram Ghat |
| Day 2 | Bhasma Aarti, then Kal Bhairav and Harsiddhi, early lunch, leave Ujjain about 14:00 for the 17:10 flight | Bhasma Aarti, rest, then Sandipani Ashram, Kal Bhairav and Harsiddhi |
| Day 3 | — | Relaxed morning, early lunch, leave Ujjain about 14:00 |
| Suits | Couples, working professionals | Families, elders, anyone adding Omkareshwar |
Why you must leave Ujjain by about 14:00
A 17:10 departure feels like a late-afternoon flight, but work backwards. You want to be at the airport well before departure, the drive takes 1–1.5 hours, and the Indore end of the highway can be slow in the afternoon. That puts your latest comfortable exit from Ujjain at around 14:00, or 13:30 on Sundays and festival days. Eat an early lunch in Ujjain, or pack something for the airport.
If the aircraft is running late on its Goa–Indore leg, you will have extra time to spare. Don’t count on it, though. Leave on schedule and check the flight status on the way.
Booking the Raipur–Indore fare
With one flight a day, the route’s seats are limited and fares tend to rise as the date approaches. We have no verified fare figures to show you, and any fixed number would soon be wrong. The practical approach:
- Book about 5–8 weeks ahead for ordinary dates.
- Book earlier for Mahashivratri (6 March 2027), Shravan (roughly July–August), Chhattisgarh school holidays and long weekends.
- Simhastha 2028 runs from 27 March to 27 May 2028. Expect every route into Indore to be under pressure, and book months ahead.
- If the non-stop is full, a one-stop routing through a busier Indore route is possible but adds several hours. Compare door-to-door times. The flights hub lists all direct routes into Indore.
Midday arrivals in summer and monsoon
Landing at noon means your airport-to-Ujjain drive falls in the hottest part of the day. From about April to June, the Malwa plateau is very hot in the early afternoon, and stepping from an air-conditioned aircraft into the heat can tire elderly travellers quickly. Ask for an air-conditioned car, keep drinking water in the vehicle, and don’t plan temple visits until the late afternoon. Stone temple courtyards get very hot underfoot around midday, and you will usually be barefoot in queues.
From about July to September, afternoon downpours are common. The highway can slow down, and waterlogged patches near both cities are not unusual. Build extra time into the return journey for the 17:10 flight. This is also Shravan season, when Ujjain is at its busiest, so an unhurried two-night plan works better than trying to squeeze everything into one night.
The most comfortable months are generally October to February, when afternoons are pleasant and mornings cool.
For travellers from elsewhere in Chhattisgarh
Pilgrims from Bilaspur, Durg-Bhilai and nearby towns usually come to Raipur for this flight. The noon arrival in Indore is forgiving: even a morning road journey to Raipur airport leaves plenty of time for the flight. Coming back, the 17:10 departure from Indore reaches Raipur in the early evening, so onward travel home is usually possible the same night.
Adding Omkareshwar
Omkareshwar, the second Jyotirlinga in the region, is about 85 km from Indore airport, roughly 2–2.5 hours each way with a ghat section. On the two-night plan, you can swap the Day 2 afternoon for a trip to Omkareshwar and do Ujjain’s other temples on Day 3 morning. It is a long day, and it works best for groups without elderly members. Details are on Indore airport to Omkareshwar.
At Indore airport
Indore airport has operated 24 hours a day since April 2026 and now uses two terminals. Reports conflict on which flights use which, so check the terminal on your boarding pass for both legs. Our Indore airport guide covers the layout and facilities. On the way home, remember that the lounge at Indore is on the departures side after security, if your card gives you access. Also allow time for security screening on busy afternoons.
