To fly from Goa to Ujjain, take IndiGo’s non-stop from Dabolim (GOI) to Indore (IDR), about 1h 40m–1h 55m, then drive about 60 km to Ujjain. A daily flight lands at 16:35, and on some days an extra one lands at 14:10. The only flight back leaves Indore at 12:30, which makes the return day the main thing to plan.
Landing at Indore airport? Book your airport pickup to Ujjain / Omkareshwar and your stay
Goa’s timings run the opposite way to most routes into Indore. You arrive in the afternoon and leave around midday. That sounds awkward, but it creates a useful option that almost no other city has: you can attend Bhasma Aarti on your final morning and still catch the flight home. Here is how the route works, based on the late-September 2026 schedule.
Goa–Indore flights
| Direction | Flight (scheduled) | Frequency | Flying time |
|---|---|---|---|
| Goa (GOI) → Indore | IndiGo 6E813, lands IDR 16:35 | Daily | About 1h 40m – 1h 55m |
| Goa (GOI) → Indore | IndiGo 6E6738, lands IDR 14:10 | Some days only | About 1h 40m – 1h 55m |
| Indore → Goa (GOI) | IndiGo 6E6219, departs IDR 12:30 | Daily | About 1h 40m |
Check the airport code. These non-stops operate from Dabolim (GOI). We found no current Indore service from Mopa (GOX), so a search from “Goa” that lands on GOX will show connections only. Live timings are on IndiGo’s Goa to Indore route page.
The daily flights also run through Indore to and from Raipur. The 16:35 arrival continues to Raipur, and the 12:30 departure comes in from Raipur first. A delay on the Raipur leg can push back your flight home, so check its status before you leave Ujjain.
Afternoon arrival: evening darshan on Day 1
From a 16:35 landing, you are usually on the road around 17:00–17:15 and in Ujjain by about 18:30, after a drive of about 60–62 km via the Indore–Ujjain road through Sanwer. That is enough for a quiet check-in, an evening visit to Mahakal Lok or Ram Ghat, and dinner. On days with the 14:10 flight, you gain two useful hours and can fit in evening darshan comfortably. If you have a choice of dates, pick a day with the earlier flight. It turns a travel day into a proper first temple visit and leaves the next day free for rest or other temples.
Evening traffic leaving Indore can be slow, so a car booked in advance is a good idea. Uber operates at IDR round the clock, and we arrange waiting drivers through our Indore airport pickup service. The distance and route page explains the drive.
The Goa advantage: Bhasma Aarti on your last morning
Because the flight home leaves at 12:30, your final morning in Ujjain can begin with Bhasma Aarti. You then need to leave Ujjain by about 09:30. The timeline is tight but workable for fit adults:
| Time (approx.) | Final-morning plan |
|---|---|
| Pre-dawn | Report for Bhasma Aarti (pre-booked), with bags packed the night before |
| After the aarti | Back to the hotel, quick breakfast, check out |
| By about 09:30 | Leave Ujjain for IDR (about 1–1.5 hours) |
| By about 11:00 | At the airport with a comfortable margin |
| 12:30 | IndiGo 6E6219 departs for Goa |
If anything could slow you down, such as elderly parents, young children or a festival day, book the aarti for the middle morning of a two-night trip instead. Never plan it for your arrival day; no Goa flight lands anywhere near early enough.
Suggested itineraries from Goa
- One night (tight): Land 16:35 and have an evening at Mahakal Lok. The next morning, attend Bhasma Aarti, leave Ujjain by 09:30 and fly home at 12:30. You get darshan and the aarti, but little else.
- Two nights (recommended): Day 1 evening arrival and Ram Ghat. Day 2 Bhasma Aarti, rest, then Kal Bhairav, Harsiddhi and Sandipani Ashram. On Day 3, a relaxed breakfast, leave by 09:30, fly 12:30.
- Three nights with Omkareshwar: Add a full day for Omkareshwar, about 85 km from Indore airport and around 2–2.5 hours by road. See Indore airport to Omkareshwar.
Before you fly from Goa
- Allow for the drive to Dabolim. If you are staying in North Goa, the drive south to Dabolim takes longer than many visitors expect, especially in season. Plan it as carefully as the Indore–Ujjain drive.
- Pack for a different climate. Goa is warm and humid most of the year. Ujjain mornings from December to February are genuinely cold, and Bhasma Aarti happens at the coldest hour. Bring a shawl or light jacket even if you never need one in Goa.
- Temple clothing. Beachwear and shorts are not suitable for temple visits. Pack traditional or modest clothing, and check the dress code for Bhasma Aarti with your booking. It is stricter than for general darshan.
- Holiday add-on trips. Some travellers add Ujjain to a Goa holiday. That works well, but with only one flight home a day at 12:30, fix your Goa return date first and build the Ujjain nights around it.
Fares and booking windows
Goa–Indore is a thin route: one daily IndiGo flight each way, plus an extra arrival on some days. We don’t have verified fare data to publish, and the fare on a route like this moves quickly as seats sell. Booking guidance:
- For normal dates, book about 5–8 weeks ahead.
- Goa’s own peak season, roughly November to January, fills flights out of Goa, including this one. Book earlier for travel in those months.
- Mahashivratri (6 March 2027), Shravan (roughly July–August) and Simhastha 2028 (27 March to 27 May 2028) need much earlier booking.
- If the non-stop is sold out, compare one-stop options via Mumbai, which has several daily flights into Indore. See the Mumbai route and the flights hub.
Monsoon and the midday return
Goa’s heavy monsoon, roughly June to September, overlaps with Shravan, the busiest season at Mahakaleshwar. Heavy rain can slow the Indore–Ujjain highway, and on your return day there is little slack between a 09:30 exit from Ujjain and a 12:30 departure. In the monsoon, leave Ujjain by 09:00 and skip the final-morning aarti if you are not confident about the timing. On the way out, weather at the Goa end can delay the afternoon departure. That is one more reason never to book an aarti for the morning after you arrive unless you have a buffer.
Useful airport notes
Indore airport has run 24 hours a day since April 2026 and now has two terminals. Reports conflict on which flights use which, so go by your boarding pass. The departures lounge is airside after security. If your card gives access, it is a good place to wait if you reach the airport early after the aarti. See our Indore airport lounge page and the wider Indore airport guide.
