Nagpur to Ujjain Flight – Daily Non-Stop to Indore & 2-Night Plan

Nagpur to Ujjain by flight means IndiGo’s single daily non-stop to Indore (IDR). It departs Nagpur at 10:30 and lands at 11:40 on an ATR 72, and Ujjain is about 60 km, or 1–1.5 hours, by road from there. The catch is the return: the only Indore–Nagpur flight leaves at 09:00, so your last night needs planning.

The outbound leg couldn’t be easier. A civilised mid-morning departure, a flight of about 1h 10m–1h 15m, and you are in Ujjain in time for a late lunch. The inbound leg is the opposite. A 09:00 departure from Indore means leaving Ujjain around 06:00, so you cannot attend Bhasma Aarti on your final morning. This page shows how Vidarbha pilgrims make both ends work. Nagpur–Indore flight details

Day 1: the easy half

Land at 11:40, collect bags and meet your driver. The drive is about 60–62 km along the Indore–Ujjain road through Sanwer, so you reach Ujjain by about 13:30–14:00. Lunch, check in and rest, then go for general darshan in the late afternoon and walk Mahakal Lok as the lights come on. Bhasma Aarti and the 09:00 return

You cannot do the aarti on arrival day, as you land hours after dawn. You also cannot do it on departure morning: the aarti is held before dawn, and you need to leave Ujjain around 06:00 to reach the airport comfortably for 09:00. That leaves the middle morning of your trip. So the minimum Nagpur plan that includes Bhasma Aarti has two nights.

Option B suits families and senior citizens best. After an aarti day that started before dawn, a 05:30 alarm for the highway is hard going. Moving to Indore in the evening gives you a proper night’s sleep and a gentle morning. Our guide to hotels near Indore airport explains which areas work.

Sample two-night plan from Nagpur

• Day 1: Fly 10:30, land 11:40. Reach Ujjain by about 14:00, rest, then evening darshan and Mahakal Lok. Early dinner and early bed.
• Day 2: Bhasma Aarti before dawn (pre-booked). Rest in the morning. In the afternoon, visit Kal Bhairav, Harsiddhi and Ram Ghat. Around 18:00, drive to Indore (option B) or stay in Ujjain (option A).
• Day 3: Fly home on the 09:00. From an airport-side hotel, leave around 07:30. From Ujjain, leave by about 06:00.

Fares and seats on a one-flight ATR route

A single daily turboprop gives this route a small seat count, so fares typically rise as the date approaches, and there is no second non-stop if the flight fills. We don’t list a fare because we have no verified figure that stays accurate. Booking advice:

• Book about 5–8 weeks ahead for ordinary dates.
• For Mahashivratri (6 March 2027), Shravan (roughly July–August), Diwali and school holidays, book as soon as your plans are firm.
• For Simhastha 2028 (27 March to 27 May 2028), book months ahead and secure your stay at the same time.
• If the flight is full, compare the road and rail options. For a larger family group in particular, the flight is not the only sensible way to make this journey.

Flying versus road or train from Nagpur

Nagpur has long had good road and rail links towards Madhya Pradesh, and many Vidarbha families still travel to Ujjain that way. The flight makes most sense for small groups, senior citizens who find long road journeys tiring, and anyone short on leave. A 70-minute flight plus a drive of about 1.5 hours gets you from Nagpur to Ujjain by early afternoon. Its limit is the single daily return at 09:00. Coming from elsewhere in Vidarbha

The 10:30 departure is one of the friendliest flight times for travellers who start outside the city. Families from Wardha, Amravati, Chandrapur and nearby towns can usually drive to Nagpur airport the same morning instead of staying overnight. The return is harder. Landing in Nagpur mid-morning is fine, but getting to the airport in Indore for 09:00 means the previous night has to be spent close by. Build that into the budget when you compare the flight with road or rail. For a group of four or five sharing one airport-side hotel room or two, the extra night is usually a small cost next to the time saved.

ATR travel tips

• Pack a compact, soft cabin bag, since overhead space on an ATR is limited.
• Put liquids such as ghee, oil and bottled Shipra water in well-sealed checked baggage.
• Request wheelchair assistance at booking for elderly travellers.

Return-day checklist

For a 09:00 flight, pack the night before, settle hotel bills in the evening and keep breakfast simple. Give yourself a clear margin, as there is no later flight to fall back on.
